The Al Merrick Twin Pin is the new collaboration between Britt Merrick and one of the world's most stylish surfers, Mikey February. The two wanted to create a board that had all the fun of a twinfin, but with enough grip and projection that you never have to wish for a third fin. Designed as a multi-purpose board, it helps you rip through everything from small waves to 2m+ walls.
From the nose and towards the rear, the bottom is flat, then a slight concave in the back half in a V shape, creating a board that is responsive and solid. The rails are low so most people ride the Twin Pin at least 1/8" thicker than their regular shortboard. It works best with the special Britt twin fin template designed just for this board which is between the fin and the upright and provides the right balance of ride, support and maneuverability. The Twin Pin can be ridden in various dimensional approaches depending on what you want to do, ride and feel. Mikey February rides a 6'1" shortboard and likes his Twin Pins to be 6'1" to suit any conditions around the world. Tanner Gudauskas likes the same length as his normal shortboard for Trestles, and Britt likes to ride his Twin Pins in Rincon a couple of inches longer than his normal shortboards.
